Age Categories: 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80-89, 90+

NOTE:  Any changes will be announced the day of the event.  Any circumstances not covered by the following rules will be ruled upon by the event coordinator.

TRACK EVENTS:

100 Meter, 200 Meter, 400 Meter, & 800 Meter Runs:

  • Tennis or running shoes are needed for this event.
  • Race will be timed.
  • If required, heats will be randomly drawn.
  • Race will be run in lanes.
  • Crossing into another lane will result in disqualification.
  • Two false starts by a participant results in their disqualification.

One Mile Race Walk:

  • Tennis or running shoes are needed for this event.
  • Walking is a progression of steps taken so that an athlete can get from the start of a race to the finish as quickly as possible.
  • These steps must meet the rules for walking which are the following: One foot must be on the ground at all times. This means that the lead foot must be in contact with the ground before the back foot can leave the ground. It is called “lifting” when a person loses contact with the ground and both feet are off the ground at the same time.
  • Each leg must be straightened at least momentarily during each stride taken by the walker.  If a walker fails to straighten one or both legs momentarily through each stride, this is called “creeping”.
  • If a walker fails to abide by either one of these rules, then they will be given a caution by one for the judges.  Upon the second caution given during the race, the athlete will be disqualified and must leave the competition.
  • Disqualification can also occur, after the competition, if assembled judges agree.
  • In case of a tie, duplicate medals will be awarded.

FIELD EVENTS:

Basketball Spot Shooting:

  • Tennis shoes are needed for this event.
  • There will be five designated shooting area’s (each will be 13 feet from the center of the basket).
  • The basket will be 10ft high.
  • A point system will apply.
  • There will be a referee at each basket.
  • The referee will call one player at a time to take their shots.
  • The shooter will be allowed to take two practice shots.  Immediately following this, they will shoot their 10 official shots.
  • The referee will take the card of the designated shooter and will mark it at the end for the total number of points made.
  • The referee will call out the score after each shot attempted.
  • The shooter must keep both feet behind the designated lines.
  • Each shooter gets only one chance to shoot their 10 shots.

Discus:

  • Divisions:  Men 50-59 (1.5 kg), Men 60+ (1.0 kg), Women 50-74 (1.0 kg), Women 75+ (.75 kg).
  • Three attempts per participants will be allowed.

Football Throw:

  • One (1) warm up throw will be allowed.
  • Three (3) throws will be made by each participant.
  • The object is to achieve the longest distance.
  • In case of a tie, one throw will decide a winner.
  • A participant involved in a tie must be present at the conclusion of the event to participate in the throw-off or they will be disqualified.
  • A foot fault called by the official will automatically nullify that throw.
  • If a ball lands outside the foul lines, it will be charged as a throw but will not count for distance.

Frisbee Throw:

Nail Pounding:

  • Safety Glasses MUST be worn and will be provided.
  • Participants will be furnished with 16 ounce hammers and eight penny nails.
  • 4×4 blocks of wood will be placed across sawhorses.
  • This event will be an individual competition.
  • Participants will be given a bucket of nails and will be given one minute to see how many nails can be pounded all the way into their piece of wood.
  • If a nail is not pounded all the way in, it will not be counted.
  • Participants will be judged in each age category.
  • In the event of a tie, there will be a tie breaker round.

Plug Casting:

  • Equipment for Event:  Participants will need to provide their own rod and reel for this event.
  • 3/8 ounce plug will be used.
  • The participant must be able to control the plug with each cast taken.
  • There will be five targets placed at a random distance unknown to the casters or participants.
  • All participants will be given a warm up time prior to the event.
  • The casting event will consist of two rounds of five targets.
  • Each member of the casting squad will alternate making casts at each of the five targets, for each round.
  • The caster with the highest number of points in each age group will be declared the winner.
  • The caster making the greatest number of initial perfects shall be declared the winner.  If this fails to break the tie, a round of five target shall be cast between the tied contestants.
  • A qualified scoring judge will be used to judge the event, and their decision on the scoring will be final.

Shot Put:

  • Three (3) throws will be thrown from the Pacific High School shot put circle.
  • Tosses will be for distance.
  • Divisions:  Women will toss an eight pound shot. Men will toss 12 a pound shot.

Soccer Kick:

  • Soccer kick is an individual age category competition.
  • Divisions:  This event is divided into both men and women divisions.
  • Five (5) distances will be marked off in front of a goal to kick from.
  • Each contestant will be given one kick from each distance.
  • Points will be awarded for each kick going into the goal as follows:
    • 20 Feet – 2 Points
    • 30 Feet – 4 Points
    • 40 Feet – 6 Points
    • 45 Feet – 8 Points
    • 50 Feet – 10 Points
  • Scoring:  Participants with the highest score wins.  First, second and third places will be awarded in each age division.
  • Officials:  Any circumstances not covered by these rules will be ruled upon by the event coordinator.
  • Equipment for Event:  Soccer balls and goal net will be furnished by the Franklin County Silver Games.

Softball Throw:

  • One (1) practice throw will be allowed.
  • Three (3) throws will be made by each contestant.
  • The object is to achieve distance and accuracy.
  • In case of a tie, one throw will decide the winner.
  • A participant involved in a tie must be present at the conclusion of the event to participate in the throw-off or they will be disqualified.
  • A foot fault called by the official will automatically nullify that throw.
  • You may throw underhand or overhand.

Standing Long Jump:

  • Measurement will be from any part of the foot/feet extending beyond the scratch line.
  • If you have had touch down and it is closest to the scratch line, that will be the point of measure.
  • Length will be measured to the closest 1/2 inch.
  • Three attempts per participant will be allowed.

Directions to Event:
Going eastbound on Interstate 44:
 Take Exit #256 for Pacific.  Turn right onto W. Osage Street (Business I-44).  Drive for 0.6 miles and turn left onto Indian Warpath Drive.  Drive 0.1 miles and Pacific High School will be on the right.
Going westbound on Interstate 44:
  Take Exit #257 for Pacific. Turn left onto Viaduct Street.  Go under the overpass and turn left onto W. Osage Street (Business I-44).  Drive for 1.1 miles and turn left onto Indian Warpath Drive.  Drive 0.1 miles and the Pacific High School will be on the right.
