Eight Ball is a game played with a cue ball and fifteen object balls numbered one through fifteen. One player must pocket balls of the group numbered one through seven (solid colors), while the other player has nine through fifteen (stripes). The balls are racked in a triangle at the foot of the table with the 8-ball in the center of the triangle, the first ball of the rack on the foot spot, a stripe ball in one corner of the rack and a solid ball in the other corner. The player pocketing his group first and then legally pocketing the 8-ball wins the game. Any player performing a break, shoots in the 8-ball may continue to shoot his next shot as long as he has legally pocketed any object ball on the break.
Nine Ball is played with balls the group numbered one through eight (the solid colors) plus the nine ball. The cue ball is struck to hit the lowest numbered ball on the table (often referred to as the object ball). The object of the game is to legally pocket the 9-ball. The object balls are placed in a diamond-shaped configuration, with the 1 ball positioned at the front (toward the position of the breaking player) on the foot spot, and the 9 ball placed in the center.
Event Rules: Winner of the lag has the option to break. Additional rules will be given out the day of the event.
