Event Description: Two regular decks with jokers. Cut for partners. Each player receives 11 cards. Play begins with the player to the left of the dealer. At your turn, draw two cards from the stack or the entire discard pile, provided you have a pair of the top card in your hand.
NOTE: Any changes will be announced the day of the event. Any circumstances not covered by the following rules will be ruled upon by the event coordinator.
Event Rules: A complete set of rules will be available for those desiring them prior to starting time. Each participant will play four games. Everyone must be on time.
Note: You must meld if you draw the discard pile. You may not mix the discard pile with your own hand until you have melded the top card. You can use a wild card (joker/deuce) as a card of rank in a meld.
If a player fails to replace a red three and the next person plays, the error stands. At the end of the hand, each red three counts 100 points or 800 points for all four threes.
Bonus: 500 points for a natural Canasta (no wild cards). 300 points for a mixed Canasta (one or more wild cards).
Note: A Canasta must contain four or more natural cards. There is an extra 100 point bonus for the partnership which goes out first.
